Each category is then broken up into multiple layers of sub categories including core concepts like accents, diddle, sticking, paradiddles, flams, and so much more. FUNDAMENTALS
Fundamentals are where it all starts. COUNTS are the first concept we emphasize which is as simple as 8 on a hand or 16 on a hand. However, here at TIGER BEAT VAULT we roll a different style. We play all isolated chop building exercises DOUBLE HANDED! Yes! This is a superior practice preference where we were always taught to play everything single handed and alternate but for what and why? Playing single handed exercises double handed allows you to mirror your technique in both hands and burns chops twice as fast and ultimately feels great! With COUNTS we start at 64 counts for duration cutting this in half as we go down the count and eventually decrease by a single count until we get to 2 counts. We want to have as minimal rest in between our playing counts to increase intensity and chop burning. This is the ultimate way to build chops and endurance.
Moving on we have multiple different ACCENT/TAP combination categories starting with the longer counts and working down.
Then we get into CORE CHOP BUILDERS which also involve accents and taps but rhythms as well.
From there we get into the legendary TIGER CHOP BUILDER ROUTINES (LOL).
And finally we have Accent Pattern beats to really hit this home.
Basically if you really want to build chops and build DRUM MUSCLE the fundamentals will get you there and TIGER has written this stuff in ideal format. Done are the days of your basic alternating hand bull shit and generic rhythmic chop builders as the BEAT VAULT gives you an extensive library of different formats in terms of how you can build chops and so many different exercises. GRIDS
Ok here we go GRIDS! These are my favorite! Let’s be real, GRIDS are what it’s all about. However, gridding out all of these different drum concepts honestly takes forever and most published drum books out there simply don’t have grids written out like TIGER has it. You simply just can’t display it quite the same using the standard music composition softwares out there like Finale or Sibelius. Beat Note App is an absolute game changer! Anyway GRIDS in drumming is by far the most mundane but high level drum concept there is. As drummers it’s our goal to be able to play the endless permutations of any concept as well as combining concepts. This is exactly what TIGER has done! You will NOT find this level of GRID WORK in any published book. Just grab the beat vault today and get to work for real. We have your basic grids including: accents, diddles, and sticking. PHRASING
Ok it’s time to talk about phrasing! Phrasing isn’t quite as exciting as GRIDS but it’s close! At the end of the day it’s great to practice everything in isolation and micro practice but we still need to learn usable phrases and practice melodic patterns. It’s also very important that we break things down into 2 bars and 4 bars to build coordination and muscle memory. There isn’t a whole lot else to say about phrasing as it’s pretty self explainable but again I have images below to get a sneak peak.
Free Content VS BEAT VAULT
Ok now let’s break down the free content on TIGER BEAT VAULT website vs the actual premium shit. Well I hate to break it to you but it’s actually the same lol. Also, it’s not uploaded yet! lol. No worries TIGER BEAT VAULT just launched and I am uploading content every day right now so hang in there! But as far as the content being the same let’s get into that. It’s the same but packaged differently.
So the beauty of this website is that going forward I will be including screen shots of all of the BEAT VAULT CONTENT I choose going forward (most of it) and it will show up in the “PRACTICE” tab on the navigation bar and under the appropriate categories. This will be the foundation of my public content as the blog will be articles but the PRACTICE tab will be all digital sheet music screen shots from the vault.
Now understand that the difference from the BEAT VAULT is that these blog posts will not give you access to the core files for the Beat Note App. Also to view the files you need to purchase Beat Note App separately in the APPLE APP STORE. The beauty of me offering this content to my web traffic for free is that it allows me to actually build public content on this website for long term traffic in Google but also allows anyone to have the content for free which is amazing! The catch though is if you want to view it the ideal way you need to purchase the vault and get the app which is cheap actually. This is totally fair! Most people will eventually buy the app and the BEAT VAULT. But you still get all this amazing content for free which is pretty incredible. You also get all future updates lifetime which in a year or two the price of BEAT VAULT will be significantly higher! Next year I will be adding drum kit content and even bucket drumming content which! TIGER is a professional street drummer/bucket drummer if you did not know….
